Practice Policies

Confidentiality & Medical Records

We respect the confidentiality of all our patients, whatever their age or circumstances. We will not discuss any aspects of your care with anyone, including your relatives, without your express permission. There is a leaflet available from reception that explains more about confidentiality and patient data or you can download it from the following link.

How We Use Your Health Records.pdf

The approval process to become and remain a training practice involves the inspection of patients’ medical records at intervals, by doctors from outside the practice. They treat the contents of these records as strictly confidential. If for any reason you object to your own records being viewed in this way, please inform the receptionist.

To aid the teaching process, the registrars and medical students will regularly make a video recording of their consultations. This is only shown to other GPs as an aid to improve consultation skills. The focus of the video is the doctor, not the patient. Intimate examinations are not recorded.

Patients will always be advised that this is to happen and will have the option of refusing to have their consultation recorded. Patients will be asked to sign a consent form before and after the consultation and may ask for the recorder to be switched off at any time during the consultation.

For further information on how we use your data and information please read our privacy notice

good_ratingsWe are keen to improve the services we offer. Suggestions are welcome and should be made to the doctors or the practice manager. Confidentiality will be respected and a reply will be made as soon as possible.

If you have a complaint about any aspect of the service within the surgery, please speak to the practice manager. Your complaint will be acknowledged and will be dealt with in the strictest confidence.
